The Role
As a Mid Backend Software Engineer, you'll independently design, build, and optimize backend systems, not just implement tickets. You'll help shape scalable architecture, keep code quality high, and act as a technical reference point for junior engineers on the team. This is a role for someone who's past needing guardrails and ready to help set them for others.
What You'll Do
Independently design, develop, and optimize backend solutions end to end.
Design scalable backend systems with maintainability and performance in mind.
Contribute to the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines.
Develop unit tests and automate workflows to keep code quality high.
Act as a technical reference for junior engineers — guidance, not hand-holding.
Document backend systems so the whole team can build on them, not just you.
Collaborate cross-functionally to improve APIs and database systems.
What We're Looking For (Must-Have)
Professional experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python, implementing real business logic autonomously.
Solid hands-on experience with Express, FastAPI, or Fastify, and designing scalable backend services.
Strong PostgreSQL skills, schema design, query optimization, data integrity.
Experience with Kafka or similar for asynchronous, service-to-service communication.
Comfortable working across dev, staging, and production environments.
You write clean, testable code, and you're just as comfortable reviewing someone else's.
Nice to Have
Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
Exposure to cloud environments and deployment support.
A track record of proposing system or process improvements, not just executing them.
